Wilderness Pursuits (WP) is Western’s hub for gear rentals, self-serve tuning, and guided outdoor experiences. On Nov. 10th, 12-2 p.m. and 4-6 p.m., WP is hosting their Annual Gear Swap & Sale for students and community members. Whether you are looking to buy some affordable gear or offload some of your unwanted items, the gear swap is the place for you.

Reselling used gear keeps it out of landfills and in the hands of outdoor recreators. Used gear swaps also provide the opportunity for individuals to snag high quality items at a much lower cost than retail.

The Annual Gear Swap & Sale is a fundraiser for WP, which collects a 20% commission on items sold. In fact, the gear swap is one of their “biggest money makers” according to WP employee Allyson Scheunemann. These proceeds help WP to run trips and keep them affordable for students.

WP is looking for a wide variety of used outdoor gear including bikes, skis and snowboards, backpacking equipment, whitewater gear, and more. Items for sale will be accepted at WP Nov, 5th, 8th, and 9th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; items must be priced at a minimum of $5. Sellers, please do not bring dangerous or unfixable items such as retired climbing ropes. Buyers, bring cash! The gear swap will be a cash only event.
