On Friday, Nov. 11, Western’s men’s hockey squared off against in-state rival Colorado College at the Jorgensen Ice Rink.

“Hockey at Western to me is more than just a sport, it’s an opportunity to grow as a person through hard work and perseverance,” says AJ Barber, who wears #3 for the Mountaineers. “There is no feeling like lining up at center ice for the first puck drop of the game or scoring the goal that changes the outcome of the game.”

Western’s hockey team is club, and competes in Division-III under the banner of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA). In-state athletic rivals Colorado Mesa and Colorado School of Mines also compete in Division-III.

This year, the Mountaineers are looking to turn around a rough start after a difficult opening slate of games against Texas Tech, Arizona State, and Colorado College.

Next up, they will remain on home ice for a pair of games against Colorado Mesa on Friday, Dec. 2 and Sat. Dec. 3 at 7:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m., respectively.
